Accessibility Policy
2026
Kakilang is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all people, including those with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our website.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for everyone.
Our website includes the following accessibility features:
Alt text on all images, describing the content and context of photographs, performance stills, installation views, and artworks
Clear heading structure to allow screen reader users to navigate by headings
Sufficient colour contrast between text and background elements
Keyboard navigation support throughout the site
Descriptive link text that makes sense out of context
Consistent navigation across all pages
Resizable text that does not break page layout
No content that flashes more than three times per second
Captions and transcripts for video content where available
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our website may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Known limitations include:
Some older archived content and PDFs may not be fully accessible — we are working to remediate these
Some embedded third-party content (such as social media feeds or ticketing widgets) may not meet our accessibility standards — we are working with providers to address this
Some video content may not yet have full captions or audio description — we are working to add these progressively
Alternative Formats
If you need any information on our website in an alternative format — including large print, easy read, audio recording, or braille — please contact us at info@kakilang.org.uk and we will do our best to provide this.
The website is built using Squarespace and is designed to work with current versions of major browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
