Alternative Roots is a day-long festival of live art, film and conversation curated by Ming Strike and Kakilang, taking place at Hoxton Hall. Bringing together more than ten East and Southeast Asian artists, the programme spans performance, moving image, workshops and participatory activities presented across multiple spaces within the venue.

In addition to live works, audiences can engage with artist films, a marketplace of independent publications and art objects, and a live podcast exploring questions of heritage, identity and cultural practice. Designed as an open, flexible experience, the festival invites audiences to move freely between events, encountering diverse artistic approaches that reflect the hybridity and evolving perspectives within ESEA communities.
