Tangram
2019
Tangram – New Chinese Music is a concert programme that explores contemporary interpretations of Chinese musical traditions through new compositions and cross-cultural collaboration. Presented as part of the Chinese Arts Now Festival, the performance brings together musicians working with instruments such as the yangqin, percussion and flute to create a dialogue between traditional sound worlds and contemporary classical practice.
Through a selection of modern works and newly commissioned pieces, the programme reflects on personal experience and the cultural complexities of the Chinese diaspora. By combining diverse musical influences and performance approaches, Tangram – New Chinese Music offers audiences an exploration of identity, heritage and evolving global sound cultures.
