This public sculpture by Otto Li was commissioned by the Hippodrome and installed at one of the entrances to London’s Chinatown. Drawing on the symbolic landscape of the Five Great Mountains of China, the work evokes ideas of cultural heritage, migration and collective memory within an urban setting.

Reflecting Li’s practice, which explores the relationship between virtual imagery and physical space, the sculpture translates digital modelling and conceptual visualisation into a permanent architectural form. Through the transformation of layered visual references into sculpture, the project considers how technology, perception and cultural narratives shape our experience of space, place and identity.
