The Story Within

Youth Programme

Everyone has a story to tell. What’s yours?

This summer, join a fun and creative workshop programme for 12–18 year olds at Tramshed theatre in Woolwich!

The Story Within invites you to explore the art of storytelling in exciting ways — from visual arts to performance.

What’s It All About?

Over four creative workshops, you’ll get hands-on with visual art and performing arts activities that will help you discover how to tell your story. You’ll be guided by amazing artists: Bettina Fung | 馮允珊, a visual artist, and Vinna Law, an actor, writer, and interdisciplinary artist.

At the end, there’s an optional sharing event where you can show your work to friends and family in Tramshed’s main theatre space!

When’s It Happening?

Workshops:

  • Monday 28th July, 2:30-5:30pm

In this first workshop you’ll get to meet our wonderful workshop leaders and get to know each other! We’ll kick things off with some fun drawing and movement games, then dive into a creative activity inspired by tableau (frozen scenes), combining life drawing and writing to spark your storytelling journey.

  • Thursday 31st July, 2:30-5:30pm

In this second workshop, we’ll explore sculpture using different materials and even our own bodies. You’ll also get hands-on with voice and sound activities, discovering how they can be powerful tools for storytelling.

  • Monday 4th August, 2:30-5:30pm

In this third workshop, we’ll start by sharing meaningful objects that you and others have bought along. Then we’ll get creative — experimenting with different materials to help you express your ideas and tell your own stories in new ways.

  • Thursday 7th August, 2:30-5:30pm

In our final workshop, we’ll support you in developing any stories you’ve started or help you keep exploring new ideas using different creative tools.

We’ll also chat about the sharing event on Sunday 17th August and how you might like to be involved, whether that’s showing your work or just being part of the experience.

Final Sharing Day:

Sunday 17th August

  • Preparation Session: 10am – 5:30pm

  • Sharing Event: 6:30-8pm (Timings TBC)
